Madame Yosephine Sumarsono was interviewed by U Wai Yan Hlaing Win, Editor In-charge of Food Magazine on 19 February at Ambassador’s residence (Wisma Duta), Yangon. They asked about 30 questions which were mainly about cooking Indonesian cuisines and life as the housewife to Ambassador.
Madame explained about her hobby and her experiences in cooking. Madame said that her teachers for cooking Indonesian cuisines were her grandmother and her mother. She is happy to cook so many varieties of cuisines for her family. Among the Indonesian cuisines, Madame likes Soto Panji the most.
As the wife of the Ambassador, she supports the Ambassador both mentally and physically. Madame also joins all the occasions, related with diplomatic activities which are held by Women Association Yangon (WAY), Myanmar Women Association and International Cultural and Charity Group (ICCG) to promote friendship with other ASEAN countries especially Myanmar. Ambassador and Madame also like to eat Myanmar traditional food such as Mohinga, noodle with coconut milk gravy and fried gourd.
Madame gave a demonstration of preparing fried Nasi Goreng, thereby sharing Indonesian traditional cuisines with Myanmar readers of Food Magazine. Madame wants to exchange information regarding cuisines between Indonesia and Myanmar. Madame wishes for the perpetuity of friendship between Indonesia and Myanmar. (PEN/DS/KN)
