Lady Wins Indonesia Cup Golf Tournament For The First Time

For the first time in its history, a lady emerged as the winner of the Indonesia Cup Golf Tournament 2010 on handicap. The winner, Sue Walton, also won the “Closest to Pin Woman” award. The male winner on handicap was Tere Kiriau while the “Closest to the Pin Man” award was won by Jeff Mason, who also won the “Longest Drive Man” and “Best Gross Overall”. Besides winning the Indonesia Cup Sue also took home the “Best Stableford Woman 2010” cup. The number of women players, which was only around 10% of the total players, did not prove a hindrance to Sue. In his address on behalf of the Indonesian Ambassador Mr Amris Hassan, Charge d’Affaires Mr Rosihan T. Saragih expressed his appreciation of the New Zealand Diplomatic Golf Society, the Karori Golf Club and the sponsors who had made the tournament a success. More than 130 players took part in the tournament, including members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, businesspersons, university students and members of the New Zealand Indonesia Association (NZIA). The tournament was run as part of the ongoing promotion of Indonesia in New Zealand and to maintain friendships.
