TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:After some postponements, the US President Barack Obama has confirmed his plan to visit Indonesia this year.
This was conveyed by the US Ambassador to Indonesia, Cameron R. Hume, to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
“I am planning to visit this year,” said Obama, as quoted by Cameron in his keynote address in the “President and Indonesian Science Academy and the Indonesian Scientific Community Gathering” at the Science and Technology Research Center, yesterday.
In his message read by Cameron, Obama said Indonesia has a special place in his heart because he spent his childhood in Jakarta.
Obama’s visit was initially scheduled for November last year, after he attended the ASEAN Summit in Singapore.
