Sports and Games Events to Commemorate the 72th Independence Day

Vientiane, Laos: The Indonesian Embassy in Vientiane have special ways to commemorate the 72th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia by conducting sports and games events in the Embassy’s premise (13/08). The events was attended by more than 100 participants from Embassy’s staffs, Indonesia diaspora and friends of Indonesia. Competitive yet fun events of aerobic, ping pong, domino, bowling and games for kids marked the day of friendship and togetherness by all the participants.

In his opening remarks, Indonesia Ambassador to Lao PDR, H.E. Irmawan Emir Wisnandar, conveyed that in a micro scale, this event can be understood to spread the solidity of harmony between Indonesia’s people living in Lao PDR. In a larger scale, the event will spark the spirit to create positive ways to enhance the relations of Indonesia and Lao PDR.

Participants showed their joy and laughter during the day, while they can also enjoy the Indonesia’s culinary presented during the event. Beside the prized for the winner of the sports and games event, 1 (one) lucky participant also win the interesting door-prize to bring back home.​​


In this regards, the Embassy will continues of the series of activities to commemorate the Independence Day by holding the Flag Ceremony on 17th August 2017. The ceremony will also be attended by Indonesia’s diaspora and friends of Indonesia in Vientiane.

On the side line, it is important to be noted that 2017 also mark the 60th years of bilateral relations established between the two countries since its establishment in 30 August 1957. The close relationship can be seen, inter alia, by the increased frequency of mutual visits from high ranking officials from both countries and mutual support on various bilateral, regional and multilateral issues.


The Embassy will also makes some events to spark this special year, by organizing trade fairs, seminar, photo exhibition and Gala Dinner that will showcase the rich culture and close relations of Indonesia-Lao PDR.
