Eid-ul-Fitr prayer was held at the residence of the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Vancouver on 19 August 2012. The prayer was attended by around 200 Indonesian Moslems from Vancouver and its surrounding areas. KH. Abdullah Gymnastiar (Aa Gym), Imam of Pesantren Daarut Tauhiid, Bandung delivered his sermons which among others highlight the need of the Moslems to purify their hearts as a necessary step to have a good life for both in the current world and after-life world. Negative attitude such as arrogant, envious and ego-centrism must be abolished. Keeping a fundamental faith and commitment to the one and only of Allah SWT must be well preserved.
After the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer, Consul General Bambang Hiendrasto and Mrs Maya Hiendrasto hosted an informal gathering with the Indonesian Muslim community. The open-house with the larger Indonesian community was conducted the next day which marked the traditional feast of Indonesian "Lebaran" featuring traditional dishes and culinary. Almost 300 Indonesian community members attended the event.
