Mayor of Bandung, Ridwan Kamil, has become one of the speakers during ASEAN session during the course of the Globe 2016, hosted in Vancouver, 2-5 March 2016. Globe 2016, which was officially opened by Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, is the series of conferences and exposition that bring together the officials and entrepreneurs from all over the world to discuss the ideas of dynamics and interaction between business and the efforts to maintain sustainable growth.
Ridwan Kamil highlighted the concept of Bandung's urban plan that is eco-friendly and revolves around the objectives to improve the people's quality of life. Ridwan Kamil during his exposition also drew the interests of the investors to finance the urban infrastructure projects in Bandung under Public Private Partnership (PPP) Scheme. Further, the investors are expected not to solely explore the feasibility of national projects but also other projects in provincial or municipal level. Besides Ridwan Kamil, during ASEAN Spotlight session, there are other speakers in the panel such as ADB, CEO from consultants and eco-friendly industries namely ICF International, Asia Cleans Innovations and financial institution for low carbon technology namely ReEx Capital Asia and International Finance Corporation.
In a separate occasion, while in Vancouver, the Mayor of Bandung also had a meeting with several counterparts facilitated by Indonesian Consulate in Vancouver. The Mayor had a numerous discussions with Translink, MMM Group, Waste Management "Emergent Waste Solution", Air Phaser Enviromental Ltd., travel writer, City Government of Coquitlam, BC and Indonesian diaspora.
