Following the death of former President Abdurrahman Wahid, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Tunis has opened a Book of Condolence to the members of the Tunisian government, the diplomatic corps and international organizations in Tunisia.
On that occasion, Tunisian Secretary of State to the Foreign Affairs Minister in charge of American and Asian Affairs, Mrs. Saida Chtioui, representing President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, presented the condolences of the Government and people of Tunisia. She also expressed her reconnaissace for acts of charity that the deceased had spent many years in the service of development of Indonesia. The Book of Condolence has been opened for three days, December 31, 2009 and continue on 4-5 January 2010 at 10:00-16:00.
KH Abdurrahman Wahid, also known as Gus Dur, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the age of 69 years. He was President of Indonesia from 1999 to 2001. He was also head of Nahdatul Ulama, the largest Islamic social organization in Indonesia
