Indonesian Participation in “International Olympiad in Information” at Waterloo, Ontario, Canada


Four Senior High School students from SMA Negeri 1 Depok, SMA Negeri 1 Bogor, SMA Kanisius Jakarta and SMA St. Thomas Medan, participated in the 22nd International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) on August 14-20th, 2010 at University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.


They came to Canada accompanied by seven officials consisting of a leader, vice leader, observer leader, tree deputy observers and an observer.


IOI is an international competition in computer science held annually by countries which have relationship with the United Nations or UNESCO. The aims of the Olympiad are to attract the interest on informatics (computing science) and technology information, as well as to unite the extraordinary students from all over the world in order to be able to share their knowledge and culture.


The Olympiad was held for two days on August 16th and 18th, 2010. Aside of competision there were also night lectures, conference and board meeting as well as social activity by visiting tourism objects held in this event.


The Olympiad was followed by as many as 290 participants from 84 countries all over the world. In this event Indonesian delegation won two silver medals on behalf of Alham Fikri with total score of 634 and Ashar Fuadi with total score of 623, and one bronze medal on behalf of Chistianto Handojo with total score of 595.
