Nine students and two teachers from Junior High School of Al-Azhar 9, Kemang Pratama, Bekasi participated in the iEARN (International Education and Resource Network) Youth Summit and Conference in Barrie, Ontario, Canada on July 12-17, 2010.
iEARN is the world's largest non-profit global network that enables teachers and youth to use the Internet and other technologies to collaborate on projects that enhance learning and make a difference in the world. iEARN Youth Summit and Conference is an annual meeting of the school members of iEARN in order to get together and share their knowledge and experience through their projects.
In this summit, Al-Azhar students presented a project namely “Promoting Hygienic Life and Healthcare among School Kids”. This project presented before 20 other participants from all over the world in about one hour. In their presentation they explained about how to brush teeth correctly, why we need to keep our teeth clean, what caused the tooth ache and their socialization to the elementary student to routinely brush their teeth. Aside of project presentation on the teeth health they also presented about the diversity of Indonesian cultural as well as handed over handy craft souvenirs.
On the night of cultural performance Al-Azhar student showed their ability of plying traditional music instrument called Angklung. They brought song of “Manuk Dadali” the song come from West Java. During the summit the students also actively followed activities of other delegations.
