The Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC), Republic of Indonesia is offering a scholarship program, DARMASISWA, to all foreign students to study Indonesian language (Bahasa Indonesia), art and culture in 71 universities in 2019.

The main purpose of DARMASISWA RI program is to promote and increase the interest in the Indonesian language in the international environment.

  • Interview at Indonesian Embassy in Stockholm (4 until 15 march 2019)
  • 1st selection by BPKLN (18 until 20 march 2019)
  • 1st academic selection by LPT (25 until 27 march 2019)
  • 2nd selection by BPKLN (28 until 30 march 2019)
  • 2nd academic selection by LPT (1 until 3 April 2019)
  • Announcement (10 April 2019)
  • Attendance confirmation (10 until 30 April 2019)
  • Final Announcement (6 May 2019)
  • Flight itinerary confirmation (7 may until 1 August 2019)
  • Orientation program at Jakarta, Indonesia (28 until 30 August 2019)
  • Start of the program (beginning of September 2019)

  1. Preferably university student
  2. Able to communicate in English and additional Bahasa Indonesia (Proven by English Language Proficiency Certificate: TOEFL/TOEIC/IELTS or OTHER CERTIFICATE if applicable)
  3. Have basic knowledge of the field you're applying
  4. Committed on the studies and follow up programs

    3. Passport valid at least 18 months from time of arrival in Indonesia
      (estimated arrival: August 28, 2019)
    4. Recommendation Letter From Education Institution/Professional Institution on official letterhead and signature (in English)
    5. Last academic transcript and certificates (in English)
    6. Language certificate (if applicable)
    7. Other certificates that related to the field you're applying (if applicable)
    8. Essay about the purpose of study (in English or Bahasa Indonesia maximum 500 words)


  • The choice of higher education institutions (attached) based on applicant's preference;
  • Once the announcement has been made, Applicant is not allowed to change their choice;
  • The chosen Applicant that would like to pull out from the program has to issue a resignation letter to the Indonesian Embassy as well as  to The Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC); and
  • The chosen Applicant will sign Darmasiswa Contract that contains academic and non academic regulations of the program.
