Celebrating Batik National Day 2015 in Morocco

​​On the Occasion of the Batik National Day, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Rabat and the Indonesian Women’s Association in Rabat have prepared a celebration Indonesian Heritage: Batik Exhibition and Workshop at the Residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Rabat, Morocco. The event was attended by more than 100 guests, including the diplomatic and international community in Morocco.


The celebration was enthusiastically received by the guests who enjoyed presentation and a demonstration of batik making process as well as an exposition of various batik collection from Indonesia. The batik making process was demonstrated by Mrs. Wati Istanti, the lecturer of Bahasa Indonesia who is currently lecturing Bahasa Indonesia in Mohammed V University in Rabat under the framework of Bahasa Indonesia for non-native speakers (BIPA Programme) under the auspices of the Indonesian government.


In his welcoming speech, E.D Syarief Syamsuri, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Morocco and accredited to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, stated that on the 2nd October 2009 UNESCO has acknowledged batik as the Masterpieces of The Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity which formally recognizes Indonesian Batik as world’s cultural heritage.
