The Presentation of the Letter of Credence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the President of the Republic

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to South Africa and concurrently to Lesotho, Swaziland, and Botswana, H.E. Mr. Suprapto Martosetomo, has prsented his Letter of Credence to the President of Botswana, H.E. Mr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, on 19 February 2015, took place at the Presidential Office of Botswana in Gaborone. The Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Yogyaswara Kustantina Suprapto, and officials from the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria.


During this important occasion, the Ambassador has also delivered personally the Invitation Letter of the President of Indonesia to the President of Botswana to attend the Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Asian-African Conference and 10th Anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership which will be held in Jakarta and Bandung in April 2015. After the Credential Ceremony, the Ambassador was invited to have a private meeting with the President, who was accompanied by his Ad Interim Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Eric Molale.


In this meeting, the Ambassador has conveyed his appreciation and gratitude to the Government of Botswana for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him as the first Indonesian Ambassador to Botswana. With the presence of Indonesian Ambassador to Botswana (based in Pretoria), it is expected that the bilateral relations between the two countries will be advanced to a greater level in every possible field of cooperation. President Seretse Khama Ian Khama, in his response, has stated his optimism regarding the future relation of Indonesia-Botswana. Moreover, the President has shown his interest in the recent development of the reconstruction and the people of Aceh in the post-tsunami era, the production of military equipments by PT. Pindad, and the aircraft manufacturing industry by PT. Dirgantara Indonesia.
