The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, conveys the statements from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia on the recent development in Libya as follows:
1. The recent development in Libya has entered into very important and determining steps. The Government of the Republic of Indonesia so far has paid serious attention on the situation in the said country. Indonesia, specifically, has delivered and will continuously endorse 3 main principles;
First, urges that the civilians in Libya are given full protection and not to be allowed as victims of acts of violence from any parties.
Second, the situation in Libya at the end can only be overcome by political process which gives opportunity for the people of Libya to determine their own future.
Third, urges the international community, especially the United Nations, to take more active roles to create conducive situation in order to protect the civilians in Libya as well as the said political process.
2. In this respect, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia puts a high esteem on the latest development in Libya that it would serve as the basis of ending all acts of violence toward civilians and building a conducive political environment, which enables all the components in Libya to decide their own future in democratic ways.
3. The Government of the Republic of Indonesia continuously honors and supports the decision made by the people of Libya who fully understand their best interests of their own future.
