OPENING REMARKS OF THE FESTIVAL COULEURS D'INDONÉSIE (FCI) 2018
AMBASSADOR DR. HOTMANGARADJA PANDJAITAN
Pavillon Dauphine, Paris, 22 September 2018
Mesdames et messieurs,
C'est un honneur pour l'Ambassade de la Republique d'Indonésie à Paris de vous accueillir au Festival Couleurs d'Indonésie 2018.
As the title suggests, this festival brings you the colors of Indonesia to Paris. Some of you may know, that to go to Indonesia, it is around a 16 hour flight. For now, we will make that journey shorter by bringing Indonesia to Paris.
Not many people know how big Indonesia is. From the eastern part to the western part of Indonesia, the flying distance is similar to from Paris to Dubai. We are a nation of 260 million people, with more than 700 different ethnicities and languages. Obviously, we cannot present all of Indonesia to you. So we highlight some that represents our diverse culture, through their design, dances, music and food. We hope this may intrigue you to find out more about Indonesia, by going there and discover the many beauties Indonesia has to offer.
Food and drinks are served this morning. But I also invite you to enjoy the delicious home-made food from our local Indonesian. My great appreciation to our sponsors who assisted in many aspects of the festival. Also to our vibrant and active Indonesian diaspora communities in Paris, which participates in more than 20 bazaar stalls this year.
Without further ado, Je déclare donc ouvertes Festival Couleurs d'Indonésie 2018!
