Diplomatic Reception in Paris to Celebrate Indonesia's Independence Day

On 25 September 2017, the Indonesian Embassy in Paris hosted a diplomatic reception at the Pavillon Dauphine, to celebrate 72 years of Indonesia's independence. Around 300 guests attended the event, which officially closes the 2-day Festival Colors of Indonesia (FCI). The theme of the night is Lake Toba, one of the "beyond Bali" tourism destinations in Indonesia.

In his speech, Ambassador Hotmangaradja Pandjaitan mentioned of the good bilateral relations between Indonesia and France, supported by cooperation in the fields of economy, investment and trade. He added that Indonesia is currently running for the non-permanent Council of the United Nations Security Council for 2019-2020 and for the 2017-2021 UNESCO Executive Board (EB). Special guests participated: several ambassadors (bilateral and permanent delegates for UNESCO), CEOs, members of the diplomatic community, defense attachés, members of the French Senate and representatives of the government.

For entertainment, famous Indonesian guitarist, Balawan, played jazz-gamelan fusion music. To end the evening, Amigos Band sang some traditional Batak songs. For food, Chef Ragil Imam Wibowo cooked the delicious Mie Gomak from Medan and Sate Rembiga from Lombok. (pn)​
