?The Second Indonesia – India Foreign Office Consultation (FOC II) took place on December 15-17th at the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.  Indonesian delegation was led by the Director of South and Central Asia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and consisted of representatives from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Indonesian National Police, as well as The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in New Delhi, and Indonesian Consulate General in Mumbai. Indian delegation was led by Joint Secretary (South), Ministry of External Affairs, and consisted of representatives from Ministry of External Affairs, Home Affairs, Defence, Commerce and Industry, Coal, Science and Technology, Higher Education, Department of Space, as well as The Embassy of the Republic of India in Jakarta.

During the FOC, both countries, Indonesia and India, reviewed the development of bilateral relationships between the two in various sectors, paying particular attention to follow-ups of the bilateral agreements on previous meetings: Summary Record of First FOC on June 17th 2013, Joint Statement from both Head of State on October 11th 2013, and meeting of Indonesian President with Indian Prime Minister on November 13th 2014. Some main issues discussed are cooperation in political, defence, trade and investment, science and technology, culture, as well as regional and multilateral issues, which are in both countries’ interest.

Moreover, Indonesian delegation also held separate meetings with relevant counterparts in India such as Secretary of East and Chief of Protocol, Ministry of External Affairs, as well as Central Bureau of Investigation in order to discuss issues regarding bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and India, cyber security, and visa.

The FOC meeting had succeeded in identifying impediments and agreeing concrete measures to increase cooperation between the two countries. Indonesian delegates hope that the FOC meeting will be able to improve cooperation between Indonesia and India in various sectors, follow up existing programs, and act as consultation forum in order to prepare for Joint Committee Meeting as well as meeting between Head of States in 2015.
