Indonesian Parliament Concluded Its First Visit to Oman

Delegates of the Commission I of the People's Representative Council of Indonesia visited Muscat, Oman, from 27 February to 1 March 2017 in a bid to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Oman and to pave way for interparliamentary relations between the two friendly countries.

While in Oman, the Commission I delegates which scope of responsibilities include the matters of defense, foreign affairs, communication and information as well as intelligence, met high-ranking officials of the Foreign Ministry of Oman, the Chairman of the Omani Majlis Shura and conducted a hearing session with the Indonesian Embassy in Muscat.

The historic visit was the first by the Indonesian parliament to Oman since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1978. During the meetings, both sides agreed on the importance to expand the good relations between the two governments as well as to bolster parliamentary relations between the two sides.​
