Bina Nusantara University (BINUS) will offer scholarships for interested Omanis while collaborating further with Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) in Oman. This was conveyed by the Director of BINUS Global, Karen Imam, during a series of meetings with the SQU and the Ministry of Higher Education of Oman during her visit to Muscat from 7 to 8 March, 2018.
In a meeting with BINUS, the Head of Computer Science Department of SQU, Abdullah Al Hamdani, expressed his intention to start cooperation with BINUS through the exchange of academic staffs and students. SQU is especially interested to learn more about cyber security from BINUS. This latest visit is also a follow up to the Letter of Agreement between the SQU Department of Computer Science and BINUS, which was agreed in 2017.
Before meeting the Head of Computer Science Department, Karen also presented a short lecture on Digital Entrepreneurship in Indonesia to dozens of students under the Faculty of Sciences. This is one of the hottest subjects in Indonesia with the growing number of startups providing services in delivery of people and goods, online stores, as well as ticket reservations through mobile applications.
Furthermore, BINUS visited the German University of Technology (GUTech) campus to discuss potential cooperation between the two higher education institutions. Both sides are keen to collaborate through mutual exchange of students to be integrated into their internship programs in the industry sector.
During the visit to Oman, Karen also met Hamed Saif Al Hadhrami, the Manager of PDO Learning and Development Center. The two institutions talked about, among others, the possibility of sending Indonesian students to PDO for internship programs in the oil and gas company.
