Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles cordially invites lovers and observers of the Indonesian Film to enjoy one that got widespread attention in the homeland. The Consulate General will conduct the screening of "Ruma Maida" on Friday (02/25) at 07:00 pm  at the Mini Theater, 1st floor of The Consulate General building. This event is also supported by Permias (Indonesian Student Association in the United States) Los Angeles, which will also enliven this event by holding a "Students’ Kiosk" which proceeds will be donated to the event Indonesian Cultural Night (10/04) at UCLA.

 

Ruma Maida is a romantic drama from Indonesia, which was released on October 29, 2009 by Teddy Soeriaatmadja directed by and starring Atiqah Hasiholan, Yama Carlos, Davina Veronica, Imelda Soraya, Nino Fernandez, Wulan Guritno, Frans Tumbuan, and Verdi Solaiman.

 

Ruma Maida still holds the record as a movie with the most nominations in the event of Indonesian Film Festival 2009, with a total of nominations 13. That has included nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay. But of the 13 nominations it only won one for Best Sound.

 

Through Maida figures, this film tells the story of contemporary Indonesia. About the struggle of a young idealist to establish a free school. Through the love story between an old time aviator and singer, this film is about the national values that the founding fathers fought for this country.
