Consul
General: Work Hard, Work Prudently, and Work Together for All
“The
Consulate and I are committed to work hard, to work prudently, and to work
together in serving all Indonesians and Indonesia’s interests,” said Consul
General Umar Hadi at the celebration of 8th anniversary of Gereja
Masehi Internasional Minahasa (GMIM-USA) held in Fontana, Southern California,
on Sunday, 26 October 2014.
Umar
Hadi, who recently took the office of Consul General on 20 October 2014,
asserted that working hard must be done to ensure that the consulate remains
relevant and brings about real benefits for Indonesians living in the United
States as well as more than 250 million Indonesians at home. Working prudently
is also a must, in order to ensure that the consulate is run in an orderly,
efficient, and corruption-free manner. Good governance is a necessity, not an
option. The consulate must also work together, in collaboration, with all
elements of the Indonesian communities, including the many Indonesian churches
in the area, based on the spirit of “gotong royong” and kinship.
Having
introduced himself as the new Consul General, Umar Hadi also congratulated
GMIM-USA for its 8th anniversary. The church’s commitment to promote
a multi-cultural church that serves both its congregation and the unity among
Indonesians is highly appreciated.
“Close
cooperation between the consulate and all Indonesian groups and communities,
including Indonesian churches such as GMIM-USA, must be continuously maintained
and strengthened for the interests of every one,” said Umar Hadi.
