Indonesian Embassy in Kyiv in cooperation with the Directorate General of Processing and Marketing of Fishery Products (P2HP) Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia participate the 13th International World Food Exhibition Ukraine 2010 in Kyiv on 26-29 October 2010. The participation of Indonesia in this exhibition also supported by Indonesian companies such as Water Decor, Joe Aquatic Indonesia Company, Bekael Eska Gemilang Company, and Aquatic Plant Centre Indonesia Company. Indonesian food products that were displayed in the exhibition were coffee, tea, indomie (noodle), spices, and various snacks that visitors can directly eat it. The 13th International World Food Ukraine 2010 was attended by 170 companies from 22 countries including from Indonesia. This event was officially opened by Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine, Ivan Demchak.
Parallel with this exhibition, the delegation from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries under the leadership Director General of Processing and Marketing of Fishery (P2HP) attended a bilateral meeting which was held in the Ukrainian Chamber and Commerce. The Ukrainian party who attended the meeting were Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, Director of Bilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation Ministry of Economic Affairs of Ukraine, International Cooperation Expert from Committee on Fisheries of Ukraine, the Department of Tariff and Customs Policy from the State Customs Service of Ukraine, Director of the Department of Public Issues from the State Tax Administration of Ukraine, and Ukrainian businessmen related with fisheries sector. Separately, the delegation also met with the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine.
In the meeting, Indonesia delivered presentation about investment opportunities and fishery products export from Indonesian. Beside, explained the various stages / requirements that must be passed by fishery product exporters from Indonesia, which has been in accordance with the standards of EU and U.S. in order to guarantee the quality of fishery products. Indonesia also proposed cooperation in the form of Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) in the fisheries sector, which was received positively by the Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Ukraine explained economic condition of Ukraine after world economic crisis, fishery conditions and rate of public consumption, the various rules and regulations related to the trading system of fishery products including ornamental fish in order to penetrate to the Ukrainian market which need to be equipped with a Certificate of Origin and Health, various facilities provided in the fish export which is also guided by the provisions and rules applicable in the WTO. In the meeting, the Ukraine emphasized that Ukraine has yet to require the need to quarantine the fish that enter to the Ukrainian market. Meanwhile, the requirements for ornamental fish export to Ukraine only need international certificate issued by the State Committee for Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine.
Ukrainian party also offered to build fishing vessels in accordance with the needs of Indonesia. In addition, the Ukrainian Chamber and Commerce proposed to hold their own exhibitions (solo exhibition) that need to get a positive response from Indonesia.
