Scholarship Programs for Afghan Students from Muhammadiyah

KBRI Kabul – H.E. Ambassador of Indonesia met Chairman of Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI – Majelis Ulama Indonesia), Mr. (Kyai) Muhyidin Junaidi, on 8th February 2018, at Sahid Jaya Hotel, Jakarta. The Chairman highly welcomed the initiative of education cooperation with Afghanistan.

On that meeting, the Chairman conveyed that Muhammadiyah is ready to provide 20 scholarships for Afghan students at the University of Muhammadiyah all around the country. Due to high interest on medical study, prioritized sectors will be nursing and medical doctor studies.

On that regard, the Chairman informed that the University of Muhammadiyah in Surakarta has nursing faculty which will be ready to accept students from Afghanistan. Meanwhile, for Medium High School and High School degree, the Chairman suggested to arrange the scholarship with Pesantrens (Islamic Schools) which have already been using boarding school system, so that it will be easier for the Afghan students in term of their accommodation and daily needs.
