KBRI Kabul - Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Afghanistan, DR. Arief Rachman MD., has visited Kandahar city, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan on 20th – 22nd January 2018. The Ambassador were welcomed at Kandahar International airport by the Vice Governor of Kandahar Province, Mr. Abdul Manan Moneeb; Mayor of Kandahar Municipality, Mr. Roshan Wolasmal; Director of Foreign Affairs - Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, Mr. Zahir Aloko; President of Kandahar Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Mr. Nasrullah Zaheer; and representatives of Ulama and Tribal Elders as well as private sectors in Kandahar province.
During the visit, H.E. Ambassador had a meeting with the Governor of Kandahar Province, Mr. General Zolmai Wesa at the Governor's office. At the meeting, H.E. Ambassador emphasized the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to help Afghan Government in peace and reconciliation process. Moreover, H.E. Ambassador also invite private sectors in Kandahar to enhance cooperation with Indonesia especially in trade and investment sectors. On that regard, H.E. Ambassador had promised to provide a simplified and easier visa process for business visit and to start an initiative on transportation facilities, especially direct flight air cargo Jakarta-Kabul.
H.E. Ambassador also had a meeting with the representative of Ulema Council of Afghanistan dan representative of Tribal Elders from Kandahar province. On that meeting, H.E. Ambassador once again emphasized the commitment of the Indonesian Government to the peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan. Furthermore, H.E. Ambassador also conveyed that Indonesian Embassy will continue to improve peace in Afghanistan through the enhancement of the Ulema role in Afghanistan. It is shown by the establishment of the organization Nadhatul Ulama Afghanistan (NUA) which spreads the value of moderate Islam, “Rahmatan Lil Alamin".
On the second day of the visit in Kandahar city, H.E. Ambassador also had a chance to meet with the President of Kandahar Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Mr. Nasrullah Zaheer, and also reputable representative of private sectors from Kandahar. On that meeting, H.E. Ambassador conveyed the commitment of Indonesian Embassy to continuously promote economic cooperation in trade and investment with Afghan private sectors through the improvement of visa services especially for business visit, immigration process and air transport facilitation. H.E. Ambassador encouraged and invited private sectors from Kandahar to actively doing business with Indonesia.
At the end of the visit, H.E. Ambassador also had a chance to meet with Vice Chancellor as well as with officials from Kandahar University. The meeting aimed to discuss further cooperation between Kandahar University with one of state university in Central Java, University of Diponegoro.
On that meeting, H.E. Ambassador underlined how significantly important the education is as one of the efforts to build peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan. Therefore, Indonesian Embassy is committed to support Indonesian government to implement program of 100 scholarship for Afghanistan students.
During the visit, H.E. Ambassador had a chance to visit some historical sites of Islam in the city such as Kharqa-e-Shareef which is a shrine complex where there are the tomb of founder of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Durrani, and also Holy robe of the Prophet Muhammad SAW.
