Afghanistan Learns about Special Economic Zone from Indonesia

​KBRI Kabul – Head of Economic Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia welcomed the visit of representatives from Afghanistan Airfields Economic Development Commission (AAEDC) at the Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, on 11th February 2018. The Executive Director of AAEDC specifically convey the invitation for Ambassador of Indonesia to attend an economic conference named “Afghanistan Special Economic Zone Conference" which will be held on 5th April 2018.

AAEDC is a commission established under the President's directive in order to develop first Special Economic Zone in Afghanistan as an effort to promote national economy activities and to attract foreign investor to Afghanistan, particularly on manufacturing and extractive industries.

On that meeting, AAEDC also convey their interest to learn more about Special Economic Zone development from Indonesia. As they know that Indonesia has been developing 11 Special Economic Zones and will develop more in near future. They highly hoped that in near time they could send a delegation from Afghanistan to visit one of Special Economic Zone in Indonesia as a comparative study for Special Economic Zone development in Afghanistan.
