Indonesian envoy lauds IIUI for educating multi-cultural students

Seminaries in Indonesia are playing a significant role in the development of mass literacy and in promotion of the country’s national slogan “Unity in Diversity”.


This was said by Indonesian Ambassador Iwan Suyudhie Amri, while addressing a seminar at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Monday.


The seminar was held on the role of Islamic boarding school and madrassas, and was organized by Indonesian students in collaboration with the Department of Education, to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Boarding School, East Java, said a press release.


He discussed matters of mutual educational interest with the IIUI Rector, Dr Masoom Yasinzai. Amri appreciated the university’s role in providing quality education to its students who come from different corners of the world.


Dr Yasinzai termed unity of Muslims, the key to progress and prosperity. He asked educational institutes to nurture students with lessons of tolerance, moderation and harmony. The rector further said that difference of opinion must be limited to scholarly debate only. He also appreciated the administrative and academic structure of madrassas in Indonesia.
