?The commemoration of the 69th anniversary of Indonesian Independence was held on August27, 2014 at the Meikles Hotel, one of the leading hotels in Harare, Zimbabwe. The function opened with the arrival of the guest of honor, Ambassador Chitsaka Chipaziwa, Director of Asia and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zimbabwe, which was welcomed by the children of Indonesia and Zimbabwe dressed in traditional clothing and made a short performance, accompanied by a song that was created by the staff of the Embassy to describe the friendship between Indonesia and Zimbabwe. Approximately 400 guests attend the function, from the Zimbabwean government representatives, diplomatic circles, local business people, and Indonesian citizens. In his remarks, the Ambassador explained the meaning of Independence Day for the people of Indonesia and the various achievements made by Indonesia in various fields. The Ambassador also informed the recent election results in Indonesia as well as the relationship between Zimbabwe and Indonesia so far. In addition, the Ambassador also conveyed that this is the last year for the Ambassador Eddy Poerwana to serve his term in Zimbabwe. He expressed gratitudes to those who have helped him during his tenure in Zimbabwe. The Ambassador also asked an apology and thanks in Shona language. Shona is one of the local languages widely spoken in Zimbabwe. This gesture was warmly received and highly appreciated by the audience.
