Indonesian Cultural Heritage in Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Exhibition in Zimbabwe



Indonesia once again participated in the Sanganai / Hlanganani World Tourism Exhibitionorganized by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority from June 18-20 at the Harare International Convention Centre (HICC), Harare. This year, the organizers added a new concept by combining culinary exhibition in the program.
Both culinary and tourism exhibition at the Sanganai / Hlanganani World Tourism Exhibition attracted 92 national and international exhibitors. A total of 10 countries participated in this exhibition, namely Angola, South Africa, Botswana, India, Kenya, Malawi, Egypt, Mozambique, Zambia and Indonesia.
This year, the Embassy chose Indonesia's cultural heritage as the theme for Indonesia tourism booth, by displaying a variety of handicrafts and fabrics from various regions in Indonesia, including Ikat from Sulawesi and West Nusa Tenggara, Sumatran Songket, Balinese Prada and Batik Cirebon. The handicrafts displayed are Barong Bali, Kelana Mask, Dakon and Wayang Golek. In addition, the tourism stand also featured a live performance from Gamelan Ladies
Group from the Indonesian Embassy in Harare.Chef Hendrik from Wisma Indonesia assisted by the ladies of the Embassy promote the Indonesian culinary by introducing chicken satay, fish pesmol and ginger drink to the Zimbabweans. The visitors were quite enthusiastic to know how to make and taste some of the
Indonesian menu.
Indonesia's participation in this year Sanganai attracted diverse visitors, from tours and travels inside and outside Zimbabwe, government institutions, students, as well as high level visit from the Minister of Tourism from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Minister of Tourism of the
Republic of Zambia and Minister of Tourism from Zimbabwe.
