On Monday (19/03), Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi has received approval from the Vietnamese Government on the Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) issued by the Government of Indonesia after consultation between the Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia Oke Nurwan with the Deputy Minister of Transport of Vietnam Le Dinh Tho on 27 February 2018 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The approval was conveyed through a letter from Deputy Minister of Transport of Vietnam to Indonesian Ambassador in Hanoi which confirmed that Indonesia's VTA is in compliance with Decree 116/2017 / ND-CP dated October 17, 2017 by the Vietnamese Government, and the Circular 03/2018 / TT-BGTVT dated January 10, 2018 by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport.
With the approval of Indonesia's VTA, it is expected that Indonesia's car export to Vietnam can immediately return to normal. In 2017, Indonesia exported 16,289 units of Completely Built Unit (CBU) cars to Vietnam with export value reaching USD 293,376,185. Compared to 2016, export volume rose 319.38% from 3,884 units and its value increased by 553.67% from USD 44,880,870. Since the issuance of Decree No. 116/2017 / ND-CP, Indonesia car exports have been suspended since January 1, 2018.
