Indonesian Ornamental Fish and Aquatic Plants Go International

The “Indonesian-German Business Gathering on Ornamental Fish & Aquatic Plants" was held by the Indonesian Consulate General in Frankfurt on 9 May 2018, in Nürnberg. The event was in parallel in making the most of Indonesia's participation at the international trade fair for pet supplies industry, Interzoo 2018, held on 8-11 May 2018.

As the world's leading bi-annual exhibition in the pet supplies industry, Interzoo is an important promotion event, not only to access the Jerman and European markets, but also the wider global market. The number of participants in this year's event reached around 1.900 international exhibitors from 66 countries, with a total number of visitors reaching more than 39.000 people from all around the world

“Through this Business Gathering, we aim to further increase Indonesian exports of ornamental fish and aquatic plants to Germany," said Consul General. In taking the form of a table-top meeting, the event provided the opportunity for German companies to directly interact and discuss business with Indonesian exporters. As many as 18 Indonesian companies participated in Interzoo 2018, including those taking part independently or with the support from the related ministry. The Indonesian Pavilion this year, under the coordination of the Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, housed 12 Indonesian companies.

The product segments promoted by Indonesia at the exhibition included various fresh and marine ornamental fish, freshwater and marine aquatic plants, invertebrates, mariculture rocks, hard corals and soft corals. The issue of sustainable management in the ornamental fish and aquatic plants industry was also a focus in promoting Indonesian products.

Indonesian participants expressed that their participation in Interzoo was very helpful in promoting new products, initiating new business connections, gaining an overall impression of the market situation, and conducting comparative studies towards competitors.
