 OPEN DEBATE:

“ADDRESSING THE IMPACTS OF CLIMATE-RELATED DISASTER ON INTERNATIONAL PEACE"

NEW YORK, JANUARY 25, 2018

(10.00 – 13.00)

Mr. President,

I wish to applaud you for convening this important meeting.

I also thank the briefers for their insightful presentation.

Climate change is real. And it is happening NOW.

I was born in Semarang… a peaceful, coastal city on the north coast of Java, Indonesia.

It is located in a low-lying delta… and from the city's establishment in the 17th century, its coastal area has always been prone to rob flooding during rainy seasons.
