Jakarta: “Djuanda Declaration is a testimony that Indonesian maritime diplomacy has stood against the tide of time. Six long decades after the declaration was launched by the late Mr Djuanda Kartawidjaja, then serving as Indonesian Prime Minister, the declaration reflects the implementation of maritime diplomacy on the basis of Wawasan Nusantara. The declaration serves as valid foundation to the concept of Republic of Indonesia as a maritime and archipelagic state. Global maritime fulcrum is the follow up of Indonesian concentrated efforts on maritime issues", as underlined by H.E. Dr Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Indonesia at the opening ceremony of International Symposium to commemorate 60th years of Djuanda Declaration in Jakarta, (13/12).
