“Firstly, I would like to congratulate the Ministry of Tourism and PPIA for the launch of this initiative. And secondly, I would like to underline the importance of collaborating with various parties, including but not limited to the Indonesian community in Australia, international students and Australians who are friends of Indonesia” expressed Consul for Information, Social and Culture Hermanus Dimara. “Our office also stands ready to collaborate with PPIA and GenWI Australia to promote Wonderful Indonesia in order to increase the number of Australian tourists to Indonesia” he concluded.
While Indonesia has for many years been Australia’s second most popular travel destination, the Indonesian Government believes that due to the two country’s proximity and with significant promotion, the numbers could be further increased. Through GenWI Australia, the Indonesian Government aims to achieve a target of 20 million international tourists visiting Indonesia by 2019, including Australian tourists.
One of the ways to promote Wonderful Indonesia is through digital media, including social Media. During the event, Mr. Kardono, Media and Communications Officer from the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism delivered a presentation on ‘Wonderful Indonesia”, to the students about marketing and promotional strategies of social medial.
