Riga, Latvia, 23 November 2018: Ilgvars Klava, Director General of Bilateral Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia and Muhammad Anshor, Director General for American and European Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia co-chaired the first meeting of Bilateral Political Consultation between Latvia and Indonesia in Riga, Latvia (23/11). Director General Kļava highlighted the policies of the Government of Latvia on Foreign Affairs and priorities in development endeavors. He further elaborated Latvia’s relationship with Indonesia, priorities and future course of action for bilateral engagement.
In return, Director General Muhammad Anshor shared the view on Indonesian foreign policy in general as well as the matters of bilateral importance.
The delegation exchanged their views on further strengthening the overall relations between the two countries. Exchange of high level visits, strengthening collaboration and cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, tourism, exchange of votes in international organizations, were among the matters discussed during the meeting. The delegations welcomes the positive trend of bilateral trade value, Latvian investment in Indonesia and the number of Latvian tourists visiting Indonesia as a sign of increased bilateral cooperation.
H.E Iglvars Klava was supported by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other line agencies of Government of Latvia.
His Excellency Mr. Bagas Hapsoro, Ambassador of Indonesia to Latvia and His Excellency Mr. Normans Penke, Ambassador of Latvia to Indonesia also spoke in the opening session and contributed to the discussions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia will conduct the next Bilateral Political Consultation on 2020. (Indonesian Embassy in Stockholm)
