On May 24, 2013, during the 65th anniversary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region XI office, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City, Hon. Eko Hartono received the plaque of appreciation – written their the words of thank for extending assistance to the victims of typhoon Pablo that hits some parts of Mindanao last December 4, 2012.
Aside from Indonesian national government, the Malaysian and 3 International entities such as UN-OCHA, UNHCR and UNWFP also received plaques including other parties that extended their help including local print and electronic media.
There were 8 provinces in the area of Palawan and Mindanao that hits by typhoon Pablo that reaches 394.778 households or about 1,765,710 victims. Data showed by the NDRRMC dated December 17, 2012 that there are about 648 persons died, 3,227 individuals were suffering from bruises and 659 lost.
The said typhoon totally washed out 32,606 concrete residences and 47,766 damaged light material houses while 12 bridges and streets and highways has been totally damaged. Estimated total damaged is about 413 million US Dollars.
Parts of Davao Province in Mindanao, hits by typhoon Pablo on December 4, 2012. That pushed the Consulate General of Indonesia based in Davao City to sent emergency team in the area to give assistance to the victims were starving of food and water, lost of their shelters and dresses.
Immediately after the disaster, the Indonesian national government were sending monetary assistance in the amount of One Million US Dollars and 40 tons of goods that were turn-over by the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Armed Forces Admiral Agus Suhartono on December 18, 2012 during the military exercises with the Philippine Armed Forces.
Indonesian authority sending another assistance in the form of 2,500 pieces of blankets, 2,500 pieces of tarpaulin and 1,700 tons of rice that were brought turn-over by the Coordinating Minister of People’s Welfare Mr. Agung Laksono on December 29, 2012.
