Indonesia Participated in the 2014 Chicago Adventure & Travel Show (CTAS)


?Indonesian Consulate General in Chicago participated in the 2014 Chicago Travel and Adventure Show (CTAS), one of the biggest travels show in the Midwest-USA, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont – Illinois, on January 11-12, 2014. The Consulate opened an Indonesian booth at the event and performed Indonesian traditional dances, Pendet of Bali and Sobrak of Surakarta, by Indonesian Consulate Performing Troupe. The Consulate was also supported by Mr. Joseph Diz, Garuda Indonesia’s Sales Manager for Midwest area.

During the event, Indonesian Consulate’s booth attracted more than 1.500 visitors who were interested to obtain more information on Indonesia’s tourist destinations and also to share their holiday experiences in Indonesia as informed by Mr. Alberd Pardede, Consul of Economy from the Consulate. He also added that 2014 CTAS gathered around 300 exhibitors and visited by more than 10.000 visitors per day.

The Consulate noted the interest and good impression of the Chicagoans toward Indonesia’s tourist destinations and attractions. For instance, Michael and his spouse who just recently visited Indonesia said that their experience in Indonesia was “one of the best time in our life” and had an impression that Indonesia “is beautiful, people are friendly, and it’s inexpensive”. Accordingly, Jennifer and Caesar who are going to spend their honeymoon in Indonesia are very excited to explore various part of Indonesia, such as Borobudur in Central Java, Orang Utan in Kalimantan, Ubud in Bali and Komodo Island. It is in the best interest of the Consulate to further promote Indonesian tourism potentials in the Midwest area.

Chicago Travel & Adventure Show was the first series of the 2014 U.S Travel & Adventure Showed which will be held subsequently in San Francisco Bay Area (January 25-26), Los Angeles (February 8-9), Washington D.C (February 22-23), San Diego (March 29-30), Dallas (October 25-26).
