The night's class on September 26, 2018, was special! The Consulate invited Mr. Alan Goldberg from Rose Street Chambers, a maritime law expert, to share his experiences during his work with International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) in dealing with the legal cases between shipping company and seamen.   • Indonesian Day 2018 to Engage Capetonians in an Experience of Indonesia

    Cape Town, South Africa – around 2520 Capetonians packed the courtyard of Indonesian Consulate in Cape Town “to have a brief escape to Indonesia" and feel the atmosphere of Indonesian heritage on the occasion of Indonesian Day 2018, Saturday, 1 September 2018 from 9 am to 5 pm. Consul General of Indonesia opened the event by striking the gong and was witnessed by Dr. Ivan Meyer (Minister of Finance Provincial Cabinet of Western Cape), Ald H Levendal (Executive Mayor of Mossel Bay), and 6 members of Indonesian Parliament from Commission VI, VII, and XI during their trip to Cape Town. The event involved 12 vendors of food and beverages, 5 vendors of Indonesian products (Batik attire and purse, silver jewellery and other handicrafts, instant food products and Muslim clothing, Imam Adam Philander as the exhibitor of Sheik Yusuf Al-Makassari information desk, Eoan group dance academy, and Senusa band from Indonesian Mission in Windhoek, Namibia.     Cape Town, South Africa – As one of the ways of Indonesian citizen engagements to protect and empower Indonesian seafarers overseas, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia facilitated Poppy Sewell, B.Econ.Dip.HRM, an Indonesian expert in human resources management at life skills class. She brought a topic related to Skills Development Training. “My life motto is to learn, to listen, and to do at your best. We need to follow these basic principles, if we want to succeed in developing our career," said her during the opening session of the class.     Cape Town, South Africa: Consul General RI Cape Town greeted 70 Indonesian crew members in a life skills class session on Wednesday night, April 18, 2018, at Seamen Club that was managed by The Mission to Seafarers. "Every Indonesian Mission is responsible to protect Indonesian citizens abroad, including Indonesian seafarers. Consulate General of Indonesia is ready to assist you in solving any criminal and civil law problems of Indonesian seafarers," stated the Consul General of Cape Town. He also underscored the need for the seafarers to understand the contract signed by them and be responsible for any legal consequences of the breach of contract.
