The Inauguration of Indonesia’s Overseas General Election Committee at the Indonesian Consulate General in Cape Town

Cape Town, South Africa: General Election is a strategic initial point for improving the state's quality of democracy. The process is vulnerable to irregularities, temptations, and potentially to be hijacked by vested interests and particular groups. Still, the people of Indonesia hopes that 2019 General Election can be held with a full integrity.

To perform the mandate of the Indonesian people and to implement the Decision of the General Election Commission of the Republic of Indonesia No. 178/PP.05-Kpt/01/KPU/III/2018, dated March 6, 2018, the Consul General of Indonesia in Cape Town inaugurated six members of Indonesia's Overseas General Election Committee and its Secretariat, on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the Consulate's Hall. The event is one of the requirements to officially appoint and establish Indonesia's Overseas General Election Committee and its Secretariat body.

On the event, all members of the Committee as well as the Secretariat were sworn according to their respective religions before the Indonesian Consul General in Cape Town, Krishna A Poetranto and signed the Integrity Pact.

The names of the members of Indonesia's Overseas General Election Committee and its Secretariat body are as follows:

Sri Wasanawati Ismail as Chairman, concurrently member;

Maryuni Davids as a Member;

Penjalin Sega Adiarsi as Member;

Gadis Ranty as Secretary;

Muhammad Nur Alamsyah as the organizer, and

Liana Venter as the organizer.

In his remarks, Indonesian Consul General expressed his congratulations to the members of Indonesia's Overseas General Election Committee and its Secretariat and expected them to carry out the mandated duties in with a full integrity and clean manners.

The event took place solemnly and was attended by all the Home Staff, Local Staff, as well as Muslim and Christian Clerics. It was concluded by, respectively, congratulatory greeting session, photo-op, and gathering session (GR).​​
