Students of Daarul Qur’aan Institute Enthusiastically Learning About Indonesia

Cape Town, South Africa: The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Cape Town introduced Indonesia to 80 students of Daarul Qur'aan Institute, Welcome Estate, Cape Town on March 6, 2018. This activity is a series of similar activities which was held earlier on December 4, 2017 at Islamia College Primary School.

The activity started at 10.30 local time with the opening speech from the Principle of Daarul Qur'aan Institute, Mr. Muntahaa Ebrahim Kenny and Consul of Information and Socio-Cultural Affairs of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Cape Town, Mr. Muhammad Sadri. Then followed by promotional video screenings of Indonesia from Ministry of Tourism, presentations about the Republic of Indonesia, such as the location of Indonesia on the world map, islands in Indonesia, the symbol of the country, cultural diversity and religion in Indonesia, as well as mosques and big cities in Indonesia. After the presentation, the Consulate played a video celebration of Eid al-Fitr in Indonesia.

To enliven the atmosphere, the Consulate held a quiz with prizes for the students with simple questions about Indonesia that had previously been presented. In addition, the Consulate also introduced a musical instrument from bamboo, named angklung and invite students to learn how to play it. From the whole series of events, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Cape Town​ received a very enthusiastic response from the students and the teachers at Daarul Qur'aan Institute.

The Consulate closed the event by giving a plaque to the Head of Daarul Qur'aan School in the hope that the cooperation which has been established will be well maintained in the future.
