Expanding the Indonesian Market in Slovakia

The Embassy of Indonesia in collaboration with the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) on 25 January 2018 has organized a seminar on the theme of the Slovakia-Indonesia Business Forum at SARIO building, Bratislava, Slovakia.

The seminar aims to promote and expand Indonesia-Slovakia bilateral trade in an effort to encourage increased trade and investment values, as well as business interactions between the two countries. This seminar is a follow-up of a business mission led by the Minister of Finance of Slovakia, Peter Kazimir to Indonesia in October 2018.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Slovakia, Adiyatwidi Adiwoso in her speech said that for those who have never been to Indonesia, Indonesia is more popular as a tourist destination. But when they arrived, Slovak businessmen were amazed by the magnitude of business and investment opportunities in Indonesia ... "Seeing is believing".

According to her, the economic relations between the two countries are characterized by complementary factors. Indonesia with a wealth of natural resources, while Slovakia with its technological capabilities. Slovakia has capabilities in the fields of automotive, robotics, and optimization solutions that are of interest to Indonesia. Meanwhile, Indonesia can offer professional human resources to encourage Slovak automotive and electronics.

Furthermore, the existence of Indonesian start-ups such as Go-Jek, Traveloka, Bukalapak and Tokopedia also conveyed if the capital value was combined with a value of US $ 16.8 billion, and has expanded into Asian countries such as Viet Nam and the Philippines, and is still open to market development .

The Ambassador hopes that the presence of Indofood, Gravfarm Indonesia, Binamandiri, Cocogreen, Chute Indonesia, Makan Restaurant and business people in the tourism sector such as the Mala Tour and Indoreisen Tour, able to establish and develop business with business partners in Slovakia.

The seminar presenting the opportunity, potential and how to do business and investment in Indonesia which is presented by Ms. Sari Kumala as the EU-Indonesia Business Network (EIBN) outreach manager in Paris. While from SARIO in the presentation delivered by Ms. Dominika Porubska as SARIO's foreign trade consultant which explained about investments in technology and in the automotive sector such as Volskwagen, KIA, and Skoda. SARIO has strongly encouraged business expansion and Indonesian investment in Slovakia, including the expansion of small and medium enterprises.


The seminar was attended by 30 participants which are from entrepreneur from logistic, agriculture product, small and medium enterprises, smart technology, as well as officer from Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ministry of Economu and Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO).  

The presence of Indonesian businessmen in Slovakia was also continued by conducting a series of business meetings with potential Slovak business partners to implement forms of business cooperation in real terms. At a business to business meeting, Indofood hopes that its products can enter the Slovak market, especially instant noodles, cooking spices and soy sauce. Gravfarm seeks to sell coffee and tea, and cooperation in opening a coffee shop with Slovak partners. Binamandiri offers Indonesian workers in hospitality fields, cruise and IT, in addition to getting a request for the fulfillment of nurses and engineers in Slovakia. Meanwhile, Cocogreen offers a supply of barbecue briquettes and shisha.


They expressed appreciation for the holding of the seminar an series of business meeting. According to them, the opportunity to expand cooperation in the field of trade between the two countries is still wide open and encourages increased trade mission visits and more frequent business meetings.
