In commemoration of the 71st Anniversary of Indonesia’s Declaration of Independence, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bern held on Monday, August 29th 2016, a Diplomatic Reception at Burgerratsaal, Kultur Casino Bern.
The Embassy hosted numerous guests, ranging from members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, businessmen, academics, travel agents, journalists, artists, friends of Indonesia to Indonesian communities in Switzerland, with live Gamelan music and Indonesian specialties. The gamelan music was performed by Swiss music group 1,2,3, Musique Sion, led by an Indonesian culture lovers, Nicole Coppey.
This diplomatic reception at the same time functions as a promotion tool for Indonesian cultural and culinary delights, such as yellow rice, chicken satay, rendang, gado-gado, lapis legit, rempeyek kacang and dadar gulung. Indonesian ornaments from Java and Bali created an Indonesian atmosphere.
A blend of Indonesian-themed decoration, Indonesian culinary delights, and live gamelan performance throughout the event, has improved and strengthened the friendship and people-to-people contact between Indonesia and Switzerland.
Indonesia and Switzerland enjoy excellent long-standing relations. Bilateral relations between the two countries commenced in July 1952. Switzerland pays special attention to the development in Indonesia, by making it one of the seven priority countries (along with Vietnam, Egypt, Ghana, South Africa, Columbia and Peru) for the period of 2009-2012 as a strategic partner of Switzerland in the development of economic cooperation , trade, investment and development.
