Early this year, on January 21, 2011, the
Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia Imron Cotan visited Xinhua News Agency and partook in an
interview session with Xinhua08 for ‘CFC
Conversation Ambassador Program Series’. The program was broadcasted on
March 1, 2011, by CNC TV and around 40 other local TV channels in the Chinese
mainland. Since its establishment in 2007, Xinhua08 is accessed by 2 billion internet
users and 500 million mobile-net users on daily basis.
The anchorwoman Li Weiwei
threw clued-in questions and brought up issues about the prospect of Indonesia
to develop as the new emerging economy. Ambassador Imron
Cotan astutely underlined that the positive economic
growth and advancement scored by Indonesia even amidst the global economic
downturn was a reflection of the political stability and the success
implementation of the Government’s prudent economic and monetary policies.
Sustained by its comparative advantages, such as the abundant natural resources, productive and skilled workers, huge market, political
and security stability, and
the condusive economic as well as investment policies, many believe that
Indonesia will emerge as one
of regional and global economic powers
alongside with BRICS (Brazil, India, China, South Africa), RoK and Turkey.
