The 9th Joint Commission Meeting (JCM), Indonesian and Thailand in Jogjakarta

Indonesia and Thailand renew friendship and commitment today (5/7) at the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) of the 9th Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) in Yogyakarta, chaired by H.E. Mr. Desra Percaya, Director General Asia Pacific and Africa-Indonesia MoFA and H.E. Mr. Damrong Kraikruan, Deputy Permanent Secretary-Thailand MoFA.

The meeting preceded the convening of the Ministerial Meeting of 9th JCM between Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mrs. Retno L.P. Marsudi and H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Thailand Minister of Foreign Affairs on 6 July 2018.

Both SOM Leaders shared the same views of the importance of the 9th JCM as 5 years has passed since the 8th JCM was held in Bangkok in 2013.

JCM is a strategic avenue for both countries in reviewing and also renewing the commitments to enhance and strengthen Indonesia-Thailand bilateral friendships as well as to bring real benefits to both people.

They expressed satisfaction on the progress and development in Indonesia-Thailand bilateral relations. Both countries have many potential and opportunity to be explored in order to strengthen the relations and cooperation in various sectors mainly in political and security, economic, legal and consular cooperation, and social culture.

Indonesia always recognizes Thailand as its close partner in maintaining peace and stability in the region and global level.

At the end of the JCM meeting, both delegation is scheduled to visit Borobudur Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage which history and legacy is cherished not only by the Indonesian but also by the people of Thailand. (Sumber KBRI Bangkok)
