President Yudhoyono attended the World Economic Forum on East Asia


Bangkok Thailand: After taking three and a half hour flight from the homeland, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Hj Ani Bambang Yudhoyono along with his entourage arrived on Thursday (31/5) morning in Bangkok, Thailand. The special Boeing 737-800 presidential aircraft landed at Don Mueang Airport on 10.30 local time. There is no time difference between Bangkok and Jakarta.

Upon his arrival at Don Mueang Airport, President Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono were welcomed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Thailand Lutfi Rauf and his wife Mrs. Tenry D. Rauf, the Royal Thai Government officials and the Defense Attache of the Indonesian Embassy Bangkok Col. Daru Cahyono and his wife. After that the President and his entourage proceeded to Shangri La Hotel where they will stay there during his two days visit to Thailand.

The President and the First Lady visited Bangkok to attend the World Economic Forum on East Asia that will be held from 31 May to 1 June 2012. In addition, tomorrow (1/6) The President will also have a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at the Government House.

President directly attended the opening ceremony of the World Economic Forum on East Asia. The theme of this year event is “Shaping East Asia’s Future through Connectivity”. President Yudhoyono appeared in the session hosted by Prof. Klaus Schwab along with other country leaders such as Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra of Thailand, Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa of Bahrain, Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong of Laos and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung of Vietnam.

In the evening, President Yudhoyono will join in the gala dinner hosted by the Government of Thailand at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Hall.

The Head of State, First Lady and their entourage are scheduled to leave Thailand for Singapore on Friday (1/6) afternoon and will arrive in Singapore in the evening. (sp/ras/np)
