His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, has received the Special Envoy of the President of Indonesia, H. E. Alwi Shihab, in Husseiniya Palace Amman, on Wednesday (03/18).
The purpose of the visit is to convey the invitation of the President Joko Widodo to the King of Jordan to attend the High-Level Meeting and the 60th Anniversary of the Asian-African Conference (KAA) in 1955 and the 10th New Asian-African Strategic Partnership (NAASP) in Jakarta and Bandung 22 to 24 April this year.
King Abdullah II welcomed the invitation of the President and expressed his desire to attend both events. However, confirmation of the presence of King Abdullah II at the event will be delivered after the kingdom can ensure compliance with the King agenda that had been developed previously.
At the meeting, the King and the envoy have also discussed various important issues in the area of common concern, including the importance of promoting the moderate thought and understanding of Islam among Muslims. Both parties consider that such a move could encourage the development of thought and movement of Muslims who carry the message of peace and benefits for all mankind.
In particular, the King of Jordan considers that the Islamic organization in Indonesia such as Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah is a valuable asset that has a lot to contribute in developing an understanding and peaceful Islamic movements and benefits.
