The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Addis Ababa held a ceremony launching a loose social club called Friends of Indonesia on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Ambassador's residence. The colorful event was attended by about hundred fifty Ethiopians and non-Ethiopians who are interested in joining Friends of Indonesia.
Making the event the ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Ramli Saud delivered a welcoming remark. in his opening remarks the Ambassador stressed the significance of Friends of Indonesia in bridging the information gap between the two peoples. He also stated that the leading role of Friends of Indonesia is in augmenting brotherhood and friendly relations between Ethiopians and Indonesias.
Among dignitaries who attended the event was H.E. Ato Arega Hailu, Director General of Asia, Middle East and Oceania at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. in his speech Mr. Arega stressed the historic significance of the Fourty-seven years enduring biilateral relations between Ethiopia and Indonesia. He also indicated the vitality of boosting two way relations between the two countries and noted similarly that social club like Friends of Indonesia can tremendously help facilitate ties between the two peolples and hailed the newly launched Friends of Indonesia.
