On 13 March 2010 around 200 members of the Indonesian community took part in the Round the Bays run as part of a crowd of more than 75,000 runners. The event, which was opened by Prime Minister John Key, began at 9am from Quay Street and finished on the waterfront at St Heliers Bay. The race is approximately 8.4 kilometres long and began in 1972 with around 1200 runners. Funds raised from this year’s run will be donated to Ronald McDonald House, Waitemata Harbour Clean-Up and Fairfax First Books.
