CURRICULUM VITAE
Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to New Zealand, Tonga and Samoa, His Excellency Mr. Antonius Agus Sriyono was born in Magelang, Central Java, on 17 May 1957. After graduated from Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, a special province in Central Java, reading International Relations, he started his career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in 1984.
H.E Mr. Agus Sriyono has always been interested in writing and the arts since his youth, he is a keen writer and some of his pieces were published in major newspaper and magazine in Indonesia. His knack for anything challenging brought him to serve in a range of division within the Ministry. His initial responsibility was with the Protocol Division before moving on to other tasks, including serving the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Alatas as one of his Private Assistant in the early nineties. H.E Mr. Agus Sriyono also took on the responsibility to handle Human Rights issues in the International Organization Directorate, before appointed as Head of Planning and Organization Bureau in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2004 until 2008.
His overseas experiences as a diplomat also varied from bilateral to multilateral posting. He was third secretary for information in our Embassy in The Hague (1987-1991) before entrusted as first secretary at our UN Mission Office in New York (1994-1998) as member of the Indonesian Delegation to the Security Council. He was the Minister Counselor for Political Affairs in our newly instate Embassy in Lisabon, Portugal (2001-2004). Just before he was appointed as Ambassador in Wellington, H.E Mr. Agus Sriyono was the Deputy Chief of Mission in the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, Russian Federation from 2008 to late 2010.
Ambassador Sriyono is in Wellington with his wife Mrs. Astuti Retno Widiati Sriyono and their teenage daughter, while their two sons are in Indonesia. One son is following his footstep with the Ministry of Foreign Affair as a Junior Diplomat, and another working as a journalist in one of Indonesia’s leading magazine.
The Ambassador presented his Credentials to the Governor-General of New Zealand, Rt Hon Sir Anand Satyanand on 30 September 2010.
