Demonstrations in Sao Paolo: No Indonesian Casualties

There were no Indonesian casualties in the demonstrations which escalated in anarchy and vandalism in Sao Paolo, and several big cities in Brazil on Thursday (06/13). The demonstrations, which ignited because of an increase in bus ticket prices by 7%, had lasted since June 6, 2013. This news was released by the Indonesian Embassy in Brasilia to the Foreign Affairs Ministry Website Portal.

Indonesia Receives Award from FAO

Indonesia, together with 38 other countries, received an award from UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Sunday (6/16), at the FAO Headquarters in Rome. The award was presented by FAO Director General DR. Graziano da Silva, and was received by Minister for the Economy, Hatta Radjasa, representing the Indonesian Government.

The Areca Festival "Buai Festival" which was held in the Market located at the border (Marketing Point) Skouw, (15/06) held together the community living in Indonesia - Papua New Guinea border. The festival was attended by around 1,000 visitors from both Vanimo, PNG and Jayapura, Indonesia. Also present at the event were Sandaun Provincial Government Deputy Secretary, the Mayor of Vanimo, community leaders and the Church.

After meeting with Indonesian President, the foreign ministers of FEALAC agreed to further enhance the cooperation in order to bridge and strengthen the tie between the two regions. This agreement is put forward in the Declaration of Uluwatu.

Seven people were killed in the incident, including the shooter who was shot dead by local police according to the news delivered by Indonesian Consulate General Los Angeles through an email to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Portal.
