Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Vanimo welcomes ADB and BDA from Port Moresby for Courtesy Meeting

On Wednesday, 22 February 2017, Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Vanimo and Vice-Consul on Consular Affairs welcomed Asian Development Bank (ADB) Team, lead by Mr. Ganiga, Ganiga, Senior Project Officer (Infrastructure), in the Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia in Vanimo. Mr. Ganiga was accompanied by his team and officials from Border Development Authority (BDA) Port Moresby and Vanimo.

The meeting was a courtesy call from ADB team to Consul before they start a field project review on Wutung border complex development. Consul and Mr. Ganiga used this opportunity to exchange information on the border development project of the two countries. Consul confirms that the development of the border complex is an implementation of the spirit to make the border as a bridge to connect the two nations and to support social and economic development of the people living in the border vicinity.

Mr. Ganiga informs that Wutung border development project was started in 2008 with US$25 million funding assistance from ADB. The project is focusing on three aspects of infrastructure facility improvement for border services, improvement on the livelihoods of people living in border vicinity up to Lido Village, and capacity building for personnel of BDA and other relevant border agencies. ADB team will be in Vanimo until 24 February 2017.
