  • Commemorating Kartini Day, Indonesian Diaspora in Edmonton Held Cultural Night

    Indonesian Diaspora Society of Edmonton Indonesia Canada Association (EICA) with the support of Indonesian Consulate General in Vancouver, on April 22nd 2017, held Indonesian Cultural Night at Beumaris Community League, Edmonton, Canada. Zulpatar Martino, President of EICA during opening remarks underlined the event was aimed to commemorate the Kartini Day as well as 150th years of Canada on July 1st 2017.   • Celebration of Gamelan Concert in Vancouver

    Around 60 attendants of Vancouver public with high enthusiasm witnessed the Annual Spring Gamelan Concert held at World Arts Centre, School for the Contemporary Arts, Simon Fraser University (SFU), on April 3rd, 2017 , at 19.00. The cold and windy evening that blanketed Vancouver`s downtown area did not discourage these devoted audiences that were mostly local Vancouver residents to witness the concert titled “Celebration of Fun with Gamelan”`.     On March 23rd, 2017, Indonesian Consulate in Vancouver, delivered exposition of Javenese and Balinese classical dances at Performing Arts, Department of Asian Studies – University of British Columbia (UBC).     No less than 150 audiences gathered at Lipont Art Center, Richmond, British Columbia (BC), on March 25th, 2017. They were on site to attend “Lansia Oral History Project-Kick Off Celebration” launched by Canada Indonesia Diaspora Society (CIDS).     Indonesian students at Simon Fraser University (SFU) associated into SFU Indonesian Association (SFUIA) once again hosted an annual sport competition, SFU Olympic 2017, at Burnaby. The mounting snow that blanketed most of the students' facilities at Burnaby on Sunday, January 15th, 2017, did not discourage the students to participate in the event that hosted basketball, volley and dodge ball.
